Not really anything surprising here... it was more of a when for him to sign than a if. For 2.1 million over the next year, Wheeler will return to the set-up role and act as a 2nd string closer if Lidge has another bad season.

Over the last three years Wheeler has put up a 8 and 9 record with 12 saves(17 chances) and a 2.96 ERA over 210.2 innings pitched. I think Dan probably could have gotten more if he went into arbitration or decided to try and go to another team.
