Extra Innings offer no relief, as Astros fall to Brewers

Have you caught your breath yet?

Tonight's game against Milwaukee had a little bit of everything.

Such as:

  • A remarkable catch by Mike Bourn on a deep fly by Mike Cameron in the second inning He sprinted up Tal's Hill and made the grab to rob Cameron of extra bases
  • Five home runs: three for Milwaukee and two for the Astros, one of which from the aforementioned Mike Bourn
  • An RBI single by Mike Hampton
  • The ejections of Pudge Rodriguez and Cecil Cooper
  • A two out, three run rally in the bottom of the eighth to put the Astros up 7-6. JR Towles collected the first RBI with a smash single to right center. He came around to score the tying run on a Kaz Matsui double
  • Jose Valverde allowing a line drive two run homer to Prince Fielder in the top of the ninth, putting the Beer makers ahead 8-7
  • Lance Berkman scoring the tying run in the ninth inning on an error by Brewer third baseman Bill Hall.
  • Ryan Braun collecting his fourth hit on an RBI single in the top half of the eleventh inning. The Brewers held a 9-8 lead, one they would not relinquish..

Number of games Geoff Geary has played in this season: 10
Number of games in which Geoff Geary has held the opponents scoreless for his brief appearance: 3

Two things about the game

I was there – it was as exciting and entertaining as baseball gets even though the bad guys won.

(1) I was sitting behind home plate – the umpiring was incredibly inconsistent. A bad strike zone is tolerable, but a moving zone is inexcusable. This dude had no clue – none, zilch, zero, nada. Both teams were treated the same from the perspective of bad calls, but it was AWFUL!

(2) Our group of 6 fans unanimously called for an intentional pass for Fielder in the 9th – before the HR. (and after as well) Bad strategic move there!

Let’s hope the offense got some legs and will stay alive!

Behind home plate eh?

Swank.

Semi psuedo swank

Front row, upper deck. I share a season ticket – 25 games – at $22 per seat, IMO the best view and best deal in major league baseball.

My Thoughts...

Stop taking Carlos Lee out of the game when he and Michael Bourn are the only ones in the lineup producing… Also, the biggest blown call of the game was the pitch before Bill Hall hit the three-run homerun, I saw it clearly and Dave Raymond emphasized on “I dont know where that missed.” result? 3-run homerun. Blame game aside, Astros need to swing the bats, and Lance needs to atleast bat his weight… He looks awful, give him a few days off.
