“stupid face” next time then. I’m really just jealous that I’ve never gotten a “1st” even though I’ve tried dilligently on Yahoo OMG! pages with subject matter ranging from Brad Pitt to Linsdey Lohan.
I would have preferred Maysonet as a utility infielder. Truthfully, we probably would be better off with another pinch hitter like Gall, Abercrombie, or Saccomano.
but it caused me to miss the broadcast of those horrible first two innings…and listen to Milo from my car. Milo seemed to miss quite a bit of what was going on.
I’ve been around since the offseason after the World Series. This is just my perception of how things have gone since then:
~ 100 posts is a typical game thread
~ 150 when we draw folks over from BrewCrewBall or BleedCubbieBlue (collectively known as BCB)
~ 200 for really exciting parts of the season, like the last week and we have to win every game to possibly have a shot at the postseason.
I’ve seen probably less than a half dozen overflow threads.
I’ve never seen 200 posts in the overflow thread before, which is where it was at a moment ago when I looked.
clack, StrosBro, or rastronomicals can probably confirm, maybe even entropic soul
Either we’ve got a lot of new blood this season or ya’ll have gotten talkative.
Maybe some new digs
Will give us better karma

What the record is for most Crawfishboxes.com posts during a game thread?
garageinc - April 8, 2009
I'm looking it up
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
that first milwaukee game
got pretty extensive. But a lot of posts ended up getting killed because Cubs fans are dicks
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
We could be getting close tonight
I’ll ask the tech team if they can help identify the record.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009

Ortiz walks Fukudome. 2 BBs in a row.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009

He’s on HLP’s in our keeper league.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Welcome clack.
And how many years have you had this keeper league… just curious.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009

You could go through every post ever and keep track of which has the greatest comments, I want to watch baseball.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
JD discussing the merits of platooning...
in terms of LaRussa and the Cards.
Says you can save money since neither players are “front line starters” in terms of salary. Guards against injury, etc.
Interesting stuff.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
JD's smart
Actual player knowledge meets an willingness to entertain and synthesize objective knowledge.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
I was talking about that in the last thread.
I really like him.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009

Ortiz walks Bradley...
Sampson on the way.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Bases loaded...
and it was a good walk. He tried to make Bradley chase, but Bradley’s got good plate discipline.
He’s the key to the 2009 Cubs. So says I.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
There is no key to the Cubs season
It’s just a matter of when they choke.
chrisjay84 - April 8, 2009
Sampson coming in
73 pitches for russ
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Good game for Russ.
Got us back in it.
chrisjay84 - April 8, 2009
Too bad Ortiz didn't start the game instead of Moehler.
He leaves with bases loaded….as JD said, his results will look either good or very bad, depending on what Sampson does here.
clack - April 8, 2009
Either way...
his line will look better than Moehler’s.

TexSkins - April 8, 2009
That might be a record in its own right
garageinc - April 8, 2009
that was some nasty stuff
berkman struck out
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
So have we reached the record number of posts yet?
garageinc - April 8, 2009
let's just say we have
clack - April 8, 2009
on a shitty game, too
of course, it probably wouldn’t be as extensive if the Astros hadn’t kept it interesting
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
I thought it was going to be dead when I turned in the TV
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Hooray...
back to the game.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Wesley Wright in
give him a hand, everybody, he’s only 14!
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Wright in.
Give up a single that almost hit him.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Fontenot flies out to Bourn.
10-6, 1 out in the top of the 8th.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
God.
Wright has to live with that Yahoo profile picture ALL SEASON LONG
garageinc - April 8, 2009
Pizza and Wings
I love you JD.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009

Pizza and wings.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
unbelievable play by Tejada.
clack - April 8, 2009
beautiful play
absolutely beautiful
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Another nice play from Tejada...
his range is pretty impressive for an old guy.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
hell
jeter couldn’t make that play in his prime
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Did Jeter have a prime?
bwhite2323 - April 8, 2009
not defensively
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Tejada looking
5 years younger than whatever his age may be
bwhite2323 - April 8, 2009
Well...
he is from the DR.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
A Yankee fan
who was at a ST game in March was heckling Tejada about his age. Tejada looked at him while signing autographs and said, “just watch me play.”
garageinc - April 8, 2009
Go Wesley!
undoubtedly my favorite reliever
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
No retakes?
We had those in elementary school… and for some reason, I had to do them almost every year.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
HAHA
Exactly..ALL SEASON LONG
I’d ask for a reshoot on photo make-up day.
garageinc - April 8, 2009
Oriental eyes with Dwight Howard's smile
garageinc - April 8, 2009
Wright K's Hill.
Mid 8.
Still 10-6 Cubs.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Ortiz ties Lidge for K's by a reliever...
With 6.
Marmol on. Gregg available tonight? He pitched the last 2 nights.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
I heard that too, and it's hard to believe.
I mean, I would have thought some reliever would have more than 6 Ks over the last 50 years or whatever.
clack - April 8, 2009
Stupid desserts.
I gave up sweets for Lent… you’d think an Astros telecast would be safe.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
i gave up jalapeno potato chips
sunday’s gonna be AWESOME
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Bob's?
TexSkins - April 8, 2009

Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Try Bob's.
You’ll die or cry.
Or both.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
I'm hungry now
garageinc - April 8, 2009
I do not envy the indigestion you will have on Sunday night.
AstroAndy - April 8, 2009
lol
but getting there’s gonna be sweet.
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Chocolate coma...
that’s what I’m betting on.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Speaking of indigestion
Plucker’s killed me.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
It's all about timing.
I gave up sweets, have had the flu twice and couldn’t have eaten them anyway – thank you, Jesus!
bwhite2323 - April 8, 2009
Lee pops to 1st.
1 down. 5 outs to go.
Miggy up.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Grounds out.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009

TexSkins - April 8, 2009

Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Pence gets a double
because Soriano fucking sucks. YES!
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009

Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Plenty of time to mount a come back.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Friday, for example.
bwhite2323 - April 8, 2009
Hahaha
I’m an idea man, I don’t need your negativity.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Bourn
is only hitter in starting lineup without a hit
garageinc - April 8, 2009
I think I pulled a Joe...
and jinxed him.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
JD...
stop.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Top 9...
10-6.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
I asked my ex if I could propose at an Astros game
I think that’s a reason she’s my ex.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Wedding proposal ended in tears...
for those of you not watching, I’m not telling you who was crying.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
wedding proposals again...
I want to see another one of those proposals where the woman throws the popcorn in the guy’s face and walks out….remember that scene from last year?
clack - April 8, 2009
Who could forget?
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Anyone have a YouTube of it?
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
I couldn't find it on You Tube...
but I found this rejected proposal at a Rockets’ game. I had never seen it.
clack - April 8, 2009
not cool, JD
we try not to bring that up
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
i didn't cry
but I did have a friend who got pretty teary-eyed
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
?
No sound anymore.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009

Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
*Cringes*
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Fukudome HR to 'Stros bullpen...

TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Tejada misplays Lee's grounder.
TexSkins - April 8, 2009
Astros falling apart in the top of the 9th

bwhite2323 - April 8, 2009
brocail just having a tough time finding the zone
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
3 outs, 5 runs
…no problem?
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
okay
5 runs needed, but the ’stros can do it.
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Brownie says
Cubs haven’t won a season opening series since 2003 … pity!
bwhite2323 - April 8, 2009
All the Astros have a hit
5 HR how could we not win this game?
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
scuffy failed
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
bourn singles
and gets down the line really fast.
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
Still have life.
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
"Cecil Cooper really loves his bench."

clack - April 8, 2009
I thought the same thing
Stephen Higdon - April 8, 2009
That's an image I don't need
bwhite2323 - April 8, 2009

Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009

bwhite2323 - April 8, 2009
Astros didn't lose...they just ran out of outs.
clack - April 8, 2009
kepp grounds out
that’s all, folks. Something of a miraculous comeback for the ’stros. Certainly not a moral victory, but it was a fun game.
Only_A_Lad - April 8, 2009
Come back
It was a good one. We just need SP. If it was not for that hole made at the start of the game, we would have won.
Silentjay - April 8, 2009
Post-Game Thread is up
