Moneyball (the movie) update!
Can anyone get a gauge on what the Astros will do in July? Rebuilding is a four letter word to Drayton McLane.
The Brewers have called up their top prospect, third baseman Mat Gamel, up from AAA Nashville. An ineffective bench and upcoming DH friendly American League parks are two of the reasons for the promotion.

When his streak stood at 29, what were the odds Ryan Zimmerman was going to break Joe DiMaggio's record 56 gamer? 1000:1.
The Rangers are playing good baseball. I repeat: the Rangers are playing good baseball. It was bound to happen, and it has. Rookie shortstop Elvis Andrus is a big reason why. His defense has saved 1.7 runs so far. Not superb, but not Michael Young bad either.
With our prospects being moved up faster than ever, the talented rotation in Lexington may not be long for the Bluegrass State.

Don't know
where a good place to put this question is, but did anybody hear any explanation for why they didn’t make up Friday’s rainout today (Monday)? both teams are off today and it seems to make just as much sense as playing it at the end of the three game series in July. you’d think they’d try to get the postponed games out of the way as early as possible to keep future open dates flexible for possible extenuating circumstances that might arise later.
Just wondering if there was any explanation given that anybody heard. it has nothing to do with the fact that it’s a slow day at work, and i wouldn’t mind listening to some baseball in the afternoon. nothing at all.

Not sure.
This could be a case of both teams wanting an off day before flying to their next game. The Cubs head to St. Louis.
I also suspect that money could play a factor. The Cubbies might have difficulty filling up Wrigley on a Monday with short notice. They can easily do so with more time for fans to adjust.

Yeah
the more I thought about it, the more it probably favors the Astros anyway. The Astros will be making the short trip to St. Louis after the rescheduled game, rather than having to come all the way back to Houston, and they’d probably prefer to get that extra off-day at home rather than on the road. Also, with Geary, Brocail, and Valverde all out, they may want to push back rescheduled games until their bullpen is more in order.
I guess the attendance factor is probably the biggest kicker. I always figured Wrigley was a stadium that would sell out any time, any day, but I’m sure a little advance notice for a mid-week day game probably ensures maximum attendance.
