Now the question becomes how many of them we get signed

Here’s how many of each round we managed to sign last year:

2008 Rounds 1-3
5 picks
4 signed (1 college, 3 high school)
1 unsigned (high school)

2008 Rounds 4-30
27 picks
22 signed (19 college, 3 high school)
5 unsigned (3 college, 2 high school)

2008 Rounds 31-50
20 picks
6 signed (5 college, 1 high school)
14 unsigned (5 college, 9 high school)

Interesting to note that in 2008, the Astros drafted Tyson Van Winkle in the 39th round. Van Winkle chose to go back for his (redshirt) junior season at Gonzaga and really improved his draft stock. He was taken in the 10th round by the Diamondbacks.

Another 2008 Astros draftee, Mike Modica (46th round), chose to go back to George Mason University for his senior season. The Astros must like the guy because they re-drafted him this year in the 24th round.

I like this draft!

I hope we can sign all of them!
