Pence rocked the Rox: Astros win fourth in a row

  • Hunter Pence helped lead the way going 4/5 and being a measly double away from the cycle.  Fortunately for us, Pence sacrificed his chance for glory and instead hit laced a single in the bottom of the 8th to put give Chris Sampson an extra insurance run.
  • Brian Moehler wasn't dominat (2 K, 1 BB, 7 GB, 8 FB), but he and the defense got the job done enough for the offense to clinch another win to keep us undefeated in the month of June.
  • Lance Berkman was 1/3 with a BB, and continues to not struggle at the plate.
  • Maysonet had a strange line with 5 PA, 0/2, 1 BB, 1 SH.
  • Carlos Lee, Geoff Blum, and Michael Bourn had multi-hit games.
  • Chris Sampson converted a 2-out save—nice to see Coop getting all progressive on us.
The game also gives us a very interesting WPA graph, and it's always good when things look interesting, but postiive for us:

I like that way of presenting a pitcher’s line for a game, showing how Moehler got his outs. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that before, and I feel like it gives me a better sense of how the pitcher actually pitched for the game.
