For the record, that's two players selected on the first day who pronounce their surnames the same way. This will be my last post of the evening, so hopefully I've added a little bit to the discussion! Looking forward to seeing everyone's takes and opinions in the morning.
Quick and dirty reports on these two:
Telvin Nash, LF, 6'1" 220 lbs. Griffin HS, GA. Also recruited to play college football. I'm seeing a two sport trend developing...Here is MLB.com's scouting video on Nash.
Jonathan Meyer, 3B, 6'1" 200 lbs. Simi Valley HS, CA. Meyer is a switch hitter. He lists favorite team as "Boston Red Sox". If nothing else, we've reduced Red Sox Nation by one.

Houston Astros selection in the Supplemental Third Round, 3B Jonathan Meyer

Mr. Nash
I’m not gonna lie, I was at first a little bit surprised (and disappointed) by the pick of Telvin Nash, but this is what BA has to say:
The Astros jumped up a bit to take Georgia prep bat Telvin Nash, but it was going to take third-round money, most likely, to buy him out of Kennesaw State. If you wanted a power bat in the Peach State this spring, Nash was your best bet. He may be limited to first base eventually.
While that still doesn’t make me love him, it least gives me an understanding of why we picked him over a high school pitcher, which I still think we need to load up starting tomorrow.

if you're referring to Zack Von whatever
the rumor is that he just wants a lot of money to sign, because he’s pretty committed to LSU.

On Miers:
The best baseball player in the draft? Really, Bobby? (Yeah, I’m sure this is based on (1) just saying something nice for the reporters and (2) some arcane definition of “baseball player.”)

oh, and the comments
on the chron.com story are epic.

I wasn't necessarily referring to Von Rosenberg
but I do think that if he’s gonna be signable, he needs to be picked in the 4th round for well-over slot. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a team like the Cubs go out and get him and do just that. I do think that the Astros need to load up on young pitching, just in general. The more pitching, the better. I’m also a bigger fan of college hitting, I feel like they’re much more proven, and while i don’t mind a risk, drafting a junior in college who has faced good competition is really good. Save the high school picks for pitchers.

Someone in the draft thread
pointed out Mier’s 18 stolen bases. While he’s not described as especially fast, it’s a good sign that he was apparently a perfect 18-for-18 in those attempts.
And, while the site I was looking at doesn’t seem to keep track of GIDP, they do track fielder’s choices (weird, I know). And he didn’t ground into one the whole year.
So he’s kind of the anti-Tejada.
