I can't bring myself to write anything about this, so I'll let you guys do the work for me. Just copy and paste the story into the comments section and fill it in.
The Astros _______ (adverb) lost another _______ (adjective) game on this _______ (adjective) road trip. Brian Moehler, like the rest of his peers in the rotation, need 105 pitches to get through 5IP, while giving up 3 runs. Not wanting to wear out the ______ (adjective) Moehler, Cecil "______" (adjective or entire phrase) Cooper went to the bullpen.
The sixth inning was a _______ (adjective) as Coop _______ (adverb) needed three relief pitchers to give up three more runs. For some ________ (long winded descriptive phrase) reason, Coop went with Tim Byrdak to face off against LHB Prince Fielder. In the end, Coop was pleased with the fact that he got to use number of relief pitchers in no more than 1IP stints. ________________________________________ (entire sentence reacting the previous sentence or paragraph if you wish).
Thankfully, Roy Oswalt takes the mound tomorrow. Maybe, just maybe, the ________ (noun) that is this road trip will end.
Oh and congratulations to Kaz Matsui. I'm not sure why this was such a story, buy you now have 2000 career hits in both Japan and MLB.

I'll just do one sentence
Not wanting to wear out the mascot who goes down the water slide every time the Brewers hit a home run, or the obviously agitated Moehler, Cecil “Hey, anyone here want to take a shot at pitching?” Cooper went to the bullpen.

Because it basically puts Kazuo in the Japanese Baseball HOF. He’s now a member of the Meikyukai (a player with 2000 hits, 250 saves, or 200 wins), along with only 54 other NPB players. So, going by some arbitrary counting stat, he’s one of the 55 best Japanese players ever. That’s pretty important (baseball-wise, anyways), if you ask me.

my understanding is that the 2000 hit mark is more rare in Japan because the seasons are shorter, and thus the opportunities for hits are less each year.

yep
the seasons are shorter, and the rules and most stadiums create a fairly pitcher-friendly environment. 2000 hits is a big deal there because of that.

Oh I get what happens to him
I just don’t get why it’s been such a story. Congrats to him nonetheless, but I’m glad we don’t have to hear how many media members are following this story anymore. Maybe he’ll start hitting again now that he doesn’t have any more pressure on him anymore.

So Mad Libs are a flop?

I think..
You should seperate the words and the story, it’s not as fun if you can see how the words you pick will interact with the story before you pick them.
