Wandy keeps composure, Astros take series: Brewers 0 — Astros 2

Mmmmmmm....series victories I remember you.

  • Wandy Rodriguez continued to do that maturation thing.  Although his command was not with him today, he stayed poised and was able to battle through his 7IP, 5H, 3K, 2BB on 116 pitches.  To make up for his less than dominant outing, Wandy and the defense converted 10GB and 12 FB.
  • Wandy also managed to do something that Miguel Tejada couldn't do: Collect a hit.
  • Geoff Blum and Jason Michaels both continued their race to raise their SLG/ISO with a home run and double respectively.
  • Adding to the old guys doing something, Darin Erstad collected a double in his three at bats.
  • Jose Valverde didn't want to let anyone go away from the game thinking that they didn't get their money's worth and converted the shakiest, scariest, most stressful 1.1IP save I can recall.  Jose will need to remember to tip home plate umpire Larry Vanover for the Ryan Braun caught looking call.

Saw the game threads…

Not too bad of calls, Rodriguez was getting that call all game long. They were borderline at worst.

Most enjoyable part is Braun going down and then crying to the umpire. No luck today Brewers.

the first was at least close to possibly being borderline

but the second was about six inches off the plate.

yea

1st could be called a borderline pitch….

the only borderline part of the braun strikeout was whether or not that was a ball or if he was giving him a free pass with a intentional walk ball…

i still got hope for the 'stros!
