Kaz Matsui turns Lidge's lights on: Phillies 4 - Astros 5

Yes, Roy Oswalt left with lower back pain after 6.1 IP, even though he was over powering the Philies.  Yes, LaTroy Hawkins couldn't hold the lead.  But does any of it really matter when you see the following?

Don't give LaTroy too much credit

Byrdak and Fulchino contributed to nearly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory as well. (Whatever the stats may say, I’m not blaming Oswalt for those runs. Well, maybe he deserves 0.5 for the runner on second and 0.25 for the runner on the first.)

After watching the 9th inning, it’s hard to believe that Pence struck out on 4 pitches from Lidge. Lidge couldn’t throw strikes. That became obvious when you saw Lidge against every other Astros’ hitter in the inning. But somehow Pence can’t help himself when he sees a slider.

Like a moth to the flame
After I saw him swing at that first slider...

I knew it was game over. Pence doesn’t often come back from waving at a bad first pitch.

Roger Clemens update

FROM ESPN:
A federal judge has dismissed Roger Clemens’ defamation suit against his former trainer, Brian McNamee, ending that chapter of the litigation in Texas and shifting the focus to New York, where McNamee has filed his own defamation suit against the former Cy Young Award winner.
