This may be the first time I heard him speak (except maybe when he was introduced as a manager). He said the expected – good spring – team coming along good. Berkman doing well,.
First in-game interview with Mills. He seems like a matter of fact guy. Asked about his philosophy (small ball vs. wait for HR), he says he hopes he can’t be pegged with a particular philosophy. He said it will depend on whatever helps score the most runs, given the particular line up each day. It might depend on things like how the wind is blowing. He wants to do the most with the talents and skills of the players who are available. He said the Astros have a few players who can run playing today, they might allow them to run—-but we don’t want to make too many outs on the basepaths.
He also looks like he was very upset with both of those plays by Lee. He was raddled but came back well. I don’t like when pitchers whine on the mound. Hope that doesnt become a problem
Grounder which Chris Johnson fails to corrall. Lee tries to make slick play, but it bounces out of his hands for a little embarassment. Run scores. 4-0.
Torn ligaments and tendons require as long to heal as fractured bones do.
The average healing times are: (1) mild strain – 2 to 10 days, (2) moderate strain – 10 days to 6 weeks, (3) severe strain – 6 to 10 weeks. The complications listed above are more likely to occur in the case of repeated injuries.
T.J. Steele drops a ball in CF and Yankees get runner on 2d. It wasn’t an easy catch, and Steele was showing good speed, but the ball went off his mitt.
starts off with a hot shot off Loux’s body….ball rolled in front of mound and both Loux and Q ran into each other getting to it. Q tried an off-balance throw and threw the ball away, with runner to 2d.
“I tweaked it, so it’s going to be a little bit sore, but other than that, I’m just going to kind of wait,” Manzella said. “I think tomorrow I’m going to be able to tell how sore it will actually be. But I just iced it a bunch, so it’s going to feel stiff from doing that. I’m just going to see if it loosens up tomorrow.”
Yay! It's on Fox Sports today.
By the way, I think the team record you show is incorrect.

Yankees Brett Gardner starts off with a bunt off Myers. (Brett vs. Brett.)

Manzells
Strained right quadricep
Joe in Birmingham - March 20, 2010
Quadricep is a series of muscles upper leg
Could be a strain or tear -Depending on severity , Tommy Manzella will be out 2 or 3 days or up to 6 to 10 weeks .
It didn’t look too severe as he left the field, but no official report yet on the severity.
Joe in Birmingham - March 20, 2010
This is what I found (about strained quadriceps)
I’m assuming it’s grade 1 or 2 because it didn’t look that painful. Hopefully just a mild strain and he can be back in there by opening day.
OremLK - March 20, 2010
Different research results
The info I found said 2 or 3 days for Grade 1 or 2 and 6-12 weeks for Grade 3.
2 or 3 days is big difference from 10 to 60 days
Let me try again
Joe in Birmingham - March 20, 2010
here's one (yet another range of days)
How long does a quadricep injury take to heal ?
Torn ligaments and tendons require as long to heal as fractured bones do.
The average healing times are: (1) mild strain – 2 to 10 days, (2) moderate strain – 10 days to 6 weeks, (3) severe strain – 6 to 10 weeks. The complications listed above are more likely to occur in the case of repeated injuries.
Joe in Birmingham - March 20, 2010
So it could be anywhere from 2 days to 2 months based on this? I’d guess it’s not very severe, in any case… I bet he’ll be fully healthy opening day.
OremLK - March 20, 2010
That's my feeling
Probably sooner
but it is a reminder how quickly a player can be sidelined

Yankees’ 2d baseman was overturned by the Astros’ runners down the line (I think it was Maysonet as the PR). I think that had an effect.
clack - March 20, 2010
Surprised that Daigle came out for third inning. Yankees score a run on a sac fly.
clack - March 20, 2010
oh, I suppose that was Bourgeois running down the line who roughed up the 2d baseman.

Houston Chronicle report
Tommy Manzella is expected to miss at least a week..
The Astros expect to know more about Manzella’s condition on Sunday, but general manager Ed Wade said trainer Nate Lucero gave an early indication.
“Nate said we’re probably looking at a week to 10 days,” Wade said.
Manzella said he was not sure how much time he would miss.
" we’ll see how it goes day to day," Manzella said. “It didn’t feel like I got it too bad.”
