Guess everyone is watching the hand egg

I almost can’t believe Mills is sitting Wallace today after his HR last night.

I’ve got the Texans on and I’m writing a TCB piece for tomorrow.

He looked pretty crappy in some of his other ABs.

Before the start last night, Mills told Stephen Goff that he intends to give Wallace more starts in the final stretch of games. Mills says he will try to do some mixing and matching of players as the seasons ends so that the players will feel like there is a lot of competition at the positions as they go to spring training.

I’ve finally got the Astros on television, but with the Texans playing, I am switching back and forth and watching, picture in picture.

I haven’t looked up Milwood’s career stats vs. the Astros, but it seems like he usually stymies the Astros. I recall some sterling games by him when he wasn’t otherwise having a good season.

I wish Altuve could lay off the high heat...

He’s getting himself behind in the count chasing a pitch he doesn’t seem to be able to keep fair.

Harrell with bad fielding play, that allows run to score. He would have been better off taking the easy out.

Field RBI single
First RBI

I think I remember something about that kid, who is from Austin. If my recollection is right, I happened to be at lunch with one of his relatives shortly after he was drafted. The relative is a lawyer and was helping with his negotiations.

Don’t have the audio on for the Texans’ game, but it looks like something bad happened t them…like the Saints taking the lead.

Yeah, that was just a nice pass by Brees.
Has the 'Stros discussion ceased?

What is there to say? :)

They're doing a whole lot of nothin' right now, haha.
Rockies take early 3-0 lead

only one earned run

Harrell’s error was costly

It always seems extra costly when the fielder turns down the easy out for a more difficult out and it blows up in his face.

Astros hosted the 200,000 game in MLB history last night

Harrell is getting lots of dinks and dunks against him today.

…there’s another example as a run scores. That ball looked like it was guided through a hole in the infield like a smart bomb.

AL Wild Card race

Big day for AL wild card race

Fading Red Sox playing a double header against Yankees (Yankees leading the first game 5-1 mid way)

with Rays and Angels hot on their tail

4-0

Grounder between Harrell’s legs

Another run scores on a balk. Bad luck—-0-2 count with 2 outs.

JD doesn’t like: “Come on, Larry (Vanover), get a freakin’ clue!”

JD exasperatedly screams at Larry the umpire that was a joke call

Read the rules says JD

J.R. says game is opn the line with this batter

If he gets a hit the viewers will change channels

chuckle

Wow

Roberto Clemente was a Rule 5 draftee by Pirates from Dodgers .

Blows my mind

I bet Altuve doesn't bunt this time

with Schafer on first and two outs

Altuve RBI Single (Double ) (Triple ) (with an error)

Altuve ends up on third after center fielder didn’t field her

Ruled a single and two base error

Altuve drives in a run…will it be an extra base hit or a single and 2 base error? Young looked horrible on defense.

Now they say 2 base error.

The hit was a liner that landed just in front of Eric Young, and Young whiffed on picking it up, letting the ball roll a long way toward Tal’s Hill.

Now I see that something good happened to the Texans. TD pass.

SURPRISE: Towles throws out a runner at 2d. (pitch out)

7-1

Wigginton solid line drive single to left

An-Rod getting lit up with some solid hits.

Astros must be saving their "A" game for the Cardinals series
A as in Albert...
Could be . . .

but not what I had in mind

Cubs leading Cardinals 1-0.

…and Nats leading Braves 1-0.

The Cards could be coming to Houston already out of the playoffs or still needing wins to get in the playoffs.

Did you see how Cards beat the Cubs last night

With two outs and bases loaded
Marmol walked in the tying run

and wild pitched in the winning run

did you see last night's game?

Marmol blew the save by a bases loaded walk and a wild pitch. Doh.

Webgem by Rockies third baseman Kouzmanoff

on Lee’s liner over third

Many bad things happening to Texans now.
Excellent game.

The Texans have retaken the lead, 33-32.

Chronicle says Texans now trail 40-33

Game not shown in B’Ham

yeah….it looks like this game is going down the tubes for the Texans. Schaub sacked on 3rd and 15 with about 2 minutes left.

Suddenly the game is on in B'Ham

Carolina game is over so they switched to New Orleans-Houston (oops now they switched to Buffalo/New England)

Nationals just took a 3-0 lead over the Braves

Morse two run homerun

Colorado shortstop Field makes Webgem play
What a goofus

A guy proposes in the stands , wearing his Astros cap backwards and wearing his grandfather’s shorts (or so it looks)

and his “fiancee” cries (He hands a paper napkin)

Listen UP" Don’t propose at the ball park! unless it’s in one of the luxury boxes, and there is lots of champagne

That is awful...

No girl/woman wants to be proposed to at a sporting event.

wow, he is a real romantic.

11-1

Didn’t see how but Rockies add two more runs to their side of the ledger

Kevin Millwood 2-R homer?

/SIGH…

Since I’ve been focusing on the Texans’ game for the last two minutes, I lost track of the Astros’ score. Now I see that the Astros are losing 11-1. Is this a game we can put in Bogusevic as a pitcher?

JD and Art Howe suggesting

Matt Downs should pitch

It's September. It would definitely happen if it wasn't September since we wouldn't have extra pitchers to spare.
Red Sox lost game one of its double header
Without looking, What inning is it?
answer

sixth

feels like we’re in extra innings

Well, I looked just a couple of minutes ago. So I know it’s the 6th. Seems like the game should be farther along.

New England /Buffalo tied 31-31 with 45 seconds remaining

Buffalo on Patriots 9 yard line

Art Howe being interviewed on the good ole days

with film clips

Will they ask about Moneyball movie? I saw an article saying that Howe was upset with his portrayal in the movie.

Mentioned it briefly

Said some things got overdone

13-1

another 2 run homerun

I can understand that Pendleton hasn't had the most consistent work, but come on...

Another HR?

Well at least Houston teams stick together
Wigginton TRIPLE toTal's Hill
14-1

JD and Brownie not even announcing the score or the fact a run scored

Joe Prince (who sings God Bless America in the seventh inning)

turned 93 last week

Art Howe upset with Moneyball

said he was portrayed as grumpy old man who tried to benefit himself when he in fact was an easy-going player’s manager

It seems that many baseball people aren't fans of the movie...

That’s not too surprising. The movie tries to appeal to the broad swath of the movie-going public, many of whom are not baseball fans or may know nothing about baseball. It’s not surprising that there would be some inaccuracies, short cuts, dramatizations, etc. in the story telling. That will be noticed by baseball people, but not the public. I heard Art Howe say that he thought it would be like a documentary. That is a very unrealistic expectation.

an easy-going player’s manager makes for a boring movie. The movie in it’s first iteration was definitely moving towards a documentary type of movie, but that’s what got it dropped by Sony. They didn’t want a documentary movie, because a baseball documentary is not something most in the general public would care to see.

For what it’s worth, here is Richard Justice’s take on the movie.

Wow, Astros...

Kevin Millwood has just held you to 1 run (unearned) on 3 hits through 7 innings.

I guess we'll have our chance to ruin the Cards season.
yay!!
Im so excited!! My grandpa is a huge Cards fan, and him and my mom tried to raise me as a Cards fan, theyre both from St. Louis area. My mom is an Astros fan now.
Braves lost 3-0

Cardinals lead the Cubs 3-2 in the ninth

I switched over to Cardinals Cubs game

Cardinals fans standing ,clapping , sold out stadium

Different atmospehre i thaninhouston

Cardinals win 3-2

Crowd goes wild

“Looking forward to Houston” say the Cardinals announcers.

Tampa Bay won its game
Angels lead 2-0 in the fifth
HEY! The game is actually on TV tommorow.
22 hits thus far for Colorado

still batting int he eighth

SEVENTEEN to 1

17-1

3-run homerun

My Misatke _It's NINETEEN to 1

19-1

NINETEEN runs

Nineteen

and one more inning to go

Xavier Cedeno getting tattooed now. More HRs and hits. 19-1 lead for Rockies.

X-Man gives up 5 runs in 1 IP.

His ERA stands at 29.02.

Lol sorry 19-1
Pick a number any number

They all look bad

Astros must be grateful

Troy Tulowitzki isn’t playing this game

and Carlos Gonzalez is still out.
This is what happens when you organize an all night drinking party at a strip club!!!

They should have talked to James Vanderbeek

this game is quite depressing
well this game is going to kill the run differential
Zachary Levine:
Someone ask Brad Mills what this does to the Pythagorean record.

Now that would be funny.

I just read a Cardinals fan posting something like, “The Cardinals get to play a minor league team for the three most important games of their season.”

The Braves will face Oswalt, Lee, and Hamels. Cards’ fan say that facing the Astros is like leading instead of trailing for the wild card.

Pride cometh before a fall
Don't make the last out
Astros on first and second

2 outs

CJ RBI single

Lee romps home from second

too late for a comeback?
JB Shuck RBI single to center

19-3

Astros LOST 19-3

and we watched it

With this loss Astros now have a new record number of losses in a season

Comeback fail...19-3

To prove to the world we do deserve the #1 pick

So this was the game I had to go to...

I will admit though, it was kinda fun seeing if Pendleton could keep giving up homer after homer. I wanted them to give up at least 20 runs. Another note on Pendleton, he kinda reminds me of Tim Byrdak. Remember the facial hair his last outing? And Juan Freaking Abreu just keeps dominating. Too bad I didn’t stick around for the whole game to watch him pitch. Oh, and it was fan appreciation day…
